Water sloshing under car

Our 2009 Nissan Versa was in a flood. The water got just up to the rear doors. The back seat floor was wet.

When you drive and stop you can hear water sloshing around underneath the car. It seems to be stuck under the carpet and the exterior bottom of the car. When you make a sharp turn the water comes out slowly.

Any ideas on the best way to get this water out?

Take it to a body shop and have them drain the water. Get it out asap as it will cause damage if left inside.

If you have comprehensive coverage on your insurance, it will take care of this for you. Your rates shouldn’t be raised for a comp claim unless the company raises EVERYONE’S comp rates in your region or state.

As a general rule, if water has been above the center line of both the front and rear wheels, they may take the option of “totalling” your car. They may give you the option of “buying it back” for a partial settlement. If it was just the rear wheels, they still need to check it out. The rear wheel bearings are at risk for premature failure. (Ever see a boat trailer beside the road with a wheel dangling or missing? They go under water every time the boat is launced and brought back onto the trailer.)
