what would be a reasonable fee for a backyard mechanic to replace a water pump on a 85 chevy sprint, if i supply the parts and approximately how long should it take? thanks
I would guess the job would take a regular mechanic about an hour or two depending. I’d say it’s about a 12-pack job. Make sure he doesn’t drink them all while he’s doing the job.
Seriously though, a backyard mechanic shouldn’t really be charging a cash fee for work as it opens up a whole host of legal and liability issues especially if you’re in one of the states that requires mechanics to be licensed and bonded. I generally do it for baked goods.
