Veyron $240k exhaust?

i see the new veyron tour billion for $4 million has an optional 8 pipe exhaust for $240k cost.how the backbox is made determines sound but going from 2 or 4 pipes to 8 seems like a scam. or just a marketing ploy?

“Scam” and “marketing ploy” have no meaning when we’re talking $4 million cars that are hand made. It’s just another way of offering the very very very best, exhaust in this case. They’re only making 250 total.

When people buy a car whose oil changes cost $20k-$25K, somehow I don’t think that those terms are applicable.

Ok, I get it that a hand made titanium muffler box is nice but certainly not worth $30k that I see online. The veyron has 2 outlets that feed the muffler. I haven’t seen good pics of this $240k system but I am skeptical it is worth that much money
The veyron or lambo setup is packaged very similarly so I assume they are very close in design.

I bet the engines have nothing to do with each other, the Bugatti is a V16 designed by Cosworth, the Lambo a V12 designed by Lambo.

Similar as in a single manifold outlet on each side of motor.

The exhaust sells for $240K… because IT CAN!

Only Bugattis owners matter if it is “worth it”.

Well of course. If this were a performance upgrade for a Toyota Camry, you’d be right to laugh and say no one’s going to pay that much. But we are talking about an exotic car, which is apparently worth multiple millions of dollars. A $500 Walker exhaust kit might be sufficient for a Toyota Camry, but no one would put such a thing on a multi-million dollar exotic!

Not unusual for an enthusiast to spend $2400 on their $40,000 car, same thing.

A Bugatti owner might make his one of one by adding this. It may enhance future value a lot. $240,000 worth? That depends on the market when the owner sells and may be a long time in the future. Besides, for someone that can afford this car, $240,000 is almost walking around money. Applying our sense of value isn’t particularly meaningful.

Seems the car is not turbo. It has a tubular header. I assume the stock system is nice. And upgraded system is nicer.

Here’s more info:
" The Tourbillon is powered by a naturally aspirated 8,300 cc (8.3 L; 506.5 cu in) V16 engine. The engine, developed by Cosworth, has a bore x stroke of 92 mm Ă— 78.55 mm (3.62 in Ă— 3.09 in) and is implemented in conjunction with 3 electric motors, 2 located at the front axle and 1 at the rear. The engine has a power output of 1,000 PS (735 kW; 986 hp) and 900 Nâ‹…m (664 lbâ‹…ft) of torque, while the electric motors have a combined power output of 800 PS (588 kW; 789 hp), making for a total of 1,800 PS (1,324 kW; 1,775 hp)."

Bugatti was owned by VW and used to use the W16 engine with 4 turbos. It is now owned by Rimac and uses a V16 naturally aspirated engine.

Lamborghini is owned by VW and is powered by a V8 or V12 depending on the model.

Here’s more info on the package, it’s more than an exhaust system. But it also doesn’t appear to change HP. More for exclusivity:

I think Bugatti has several models. Chiron, bolide, divo, mistral, cento deici and others.
