Ventilation fan switch

I have a 2006 Pontiac G6 with 96,000 miles on the odometer. This is a 4 speed switch and the first 2 speeds have failed. How do I fix this problem? Is it an issue with a fuse, computer chip, or the switch? Why would only 2 out of 4 speed positions fail?

The problem is probably due to a defective blower motor resistor assembly. This component has a series of resistors that reduces the voltage to the blower motor for the various speeds. Since the two lower speeds don’t work indicates that the two resistors for those lower speeds have failed.

Aquire a new resistor assembly from the dealer. Then under the right side of the dash on the blower housing you’ll find the resistor assembly mounted.

Thanks. This is very helpful.
