Because no issue, local, national, or global, stirs up the emotions, and gets peoples’ hands around each others neck, like a good ol’ conversation about what pressure to inflate ones tires to!
Synthetic vs Dino, Multi Weight vs Specific Weight and and Boutique vs Industrial and them’s all Fighting Words !
But back to the real world we all face a choice on the world we want for at least next 4 years.
Everyone who has the “privilege” to vote should grasp their privilege and responsibility and exercise it,
It all comes down to win or lose, “The Will of the People” .
The point of my admittedly sarcastic post was that vehicle manufacturer specifications (from oil type to tire pressure to torque specs for engine and other parts, etc.) were arrived at via scientific and engineering processes. They should not cause such contentious debate to the point of yelling, or as in forums, getting suspended or banned.
I exercise my right to vote in every election, however I have not voted for any major party candidate for president in a while. I usually write in a cartoon character. I don’t want them to think I am too lazy to vote but I want better nominees.
I thing every ballot should have a “none of the above” line for every race and itf that wins, all of the candidates should be disqualified.
Finally! A debate that gets to the real issues. Forget foreign policy, let’s settle this once and for all—how many PSI is too much?! We need answers, not blown tires!
Again, I’m drawing attention to the reactions and emotions that the subject of tire pressure seems to arouse, vs the examples of political issues I listed.
Note that difference, as it is the context in which I created that list. It should be understood that those other topics will NOT be discussed here.
I am simply drawing attention to the almost comedic folly of how a discussion of a scientifically derived specification for motor vehicles - tire pressure - gets people more worked up than real political examples.
If some of you cannot understand that, as the original intend of this conversation, then there is nothing more I can do to help you.
Jesus himself knew that being correct in this world would be difficult. But I stand by what I said, because I have been the target of verbal vitriol regarding vehicle tire pressures in CarTalk Community, as well as in a host of other automotive-related forums I participate in.
Use this - or any other - car forum’s search function: “tire pressure” and you’ll see just how passionately people disagree about such a simple, yet impactful vehicle maintenance item.
And the common denominator in all this is you, if you can’t take a hint, then there is nothing more anybody can do to help you…
Off topic but a good example of your case…
My best friend had been married 4 times before we met in the early 90’s (he was 43), he was always complaining about them, I told him that there was only one thing that everyone had in common, and it was him… I said you ever think you could be the reason for 4 divorces??
Same principle, you are the one thing in common here with all the forums having issues with your obsession with tire pressures…
When it is called for like someone having a pull, wear issue, ride quality question, then please explain to that person about tire maintenance… I don’t think anyone has a problem with it then…
But good grief, stop over doing it… It is kinda like having a get together and that one guy that keeps talking about his new whatever and just won’t shut the heck up about it…
The only reason I talk about tire pressure so much is all the refuters out there. On Car Talk Community, DriveAccord, and so on.
Whenever I suggest where to find the most correct tire pressure info for a specific vehicle, someone, or several people, feel it necessary to refute what I said!
The biggest whopper being from those who insist on going by the max load pressure on the tire sidewall.
And those conspiracists who claim that the car mfg recommended pressures were selected to promote “a soft ride”, etc…
So it gives the appearance that I’m always bringing the subject up, when all I’m doing is trying to correct such false information.
What are we in kindergarten on the playground?? Who cares… Just say what you think is correct and move on… You will get more respect not arguing with everyone…
I don’t remember hearing any regular on here saying to do that…
Don’t take it so personally, most of us will never meet in real life, it is just a forum… lol
Trust me, I bite my tongue wayyyy more then I say something…
