My 240 with automatic transmission suddenly stopped shifting out of first. No warning. Fluid level is good. Any ideas on a simple fix or is it toast?
It sounds like you lost the intermediate clutch on it. Does reverse work ok?? What happens when you manually upshift it from L1 up to L2 then “D”?? Will it hit 2nd then?? If it will do a forced upshift, it could also be an issue with the governor.

Reverse and first work well. Shifting down and up has no effect. Stays in 1st.
I would say that the intermediate clutch is gone. Looks like its time to seek a trans specialist.
