will a 98 chevy malibu 3.1 auto trans fit a 94 pontiac grandprix 3.1 auto?
or would one out of a 94 chavy malibu with 3.1 fit in the grandprix?

It’s not the same transmission. The 4T40 was used in the Malibu and the 4T60 was used in the Grand Prix. The 4T40 is too light for the Grand Prix.
