I have an 4wd 2001 Mazda Tribute. When driving at speed the car seems to be fine. But when you get off the accelerator and then back on it the car lurches as if transmission is free wheeling then jumping back into gear. What might be the problem? Do i need a new transmission? Could there be an easier fix?
Check all of the engine/transmission mounts first, especially the front and rear.
How many miles on the car? Did this start suddenly? Has the transmission fluid ever been changed?
