Slippage between 2nd and 3rd speeds. Only 66,000 on car. Can this be repaired or does it need a new tran?

Hmmm…5 speed? Have the pressure switches replaced (they’re external, iirc). You’re describing a “flare” …2nd disconnects before 3rd is engaged. Engine rpms come up …then 3rd engages … You’re lacking the proper overlap of co-engagement.

The main drive position shows a 4 so I presume a 4 speed. If it is an external part, that sounds better.
