Too noisey

I have a 2007 bmw 335i sport package, I like to drive it but the noise from the muffler is getting to be to much. How can I lower the noise. do I need to change the mufflers? any experience on this issue?

A non performance muffler will fix your problem.

Has the noise always been the same? Or has the noise changed over time?

Questions . . .

How long have you owned this car?

Have you compared your car to identical cars?

Yes – unless there is something wrong – replacing the mufflers with quieter ones should help a lot. I take daily walks in my neighborhood so I take note of how loud the cars are as they go by. There’s a huge difference in the amount of noise different cars make. Corollas, Civics, Accords, Camry’s, econoboxes in general are usually are close to silent. The only ones more quiet are the Prius’s. BMW’s tend to be noticeably louder than econoboxes, but certainly not the loudest. The loudest among the cars – not counting motorcycles – is between a 1960’s Dodge Charger and a 1970’s hot-rod modified VW Beetle with some kind of super-charged engine. The VW engine is so big and the exhaust pipes so extensive the rear hood had to be removed.
