I remember gas wars taking gas prices down to 10 cents per gallon back then. What would you ever do with 300,000 gallons of gas? Maybe that was the total purse.
I’m pretty sure gas didn’t stay $0.10 a gallon for ever… lol
And most likely is was basically a lifetime of gas and they figured the pay out would be much less… lol
My roommate had a car like that. All three of us had pontiacs of various vintage. When it was a cold morning in South Dakota and his wouldn’t start, he’d just wait for a warmer day. A chemist.
Yeah my room mate had a trust fund so bought a new GTO in 1969 still in college. He just had to convince the bankers to release the money. Once he turned 25 it would all be his. Adopted with rich farmers in support. He had finally discovered his real mother late in life. I would not trade even though I was broke.
Most Americans probably wouldn’t consider that to be a “real” GTO, as it was a rebadged Holden, and it was manufactured in Australia. However, it did pack a big, powerful V8 under the hood.
Yeah, those Chevy Nova-based “GTOs” were a bad joke.
That is not a real GTO - the word Phoney applies here.
A coworker has a Pontiac G8, similar to the GTO, both are real cars. While it technically is an imported car as was the GTO, it was manufactured by General Motors.
Some forum members drive imported vehicles, they also seem to hate cars.
This clearly illustrates that “back in the day” is a relative term
