How many miles do you plan to drive in the next sixty day?
What type of driving.
How old are the tires?
My thoughts four tires for $1000 charged at 18%=$180 interest, but if you pay half the CC bill in Aug and pay off the CC in Sept the interest amount will be less.
First, we need to point-out to you that this situation would not have taken place if you had been rotating the tires every 5-6k miles. In the future, hopefully you will do that.
There are tire stores (including Costco) that will perform FREE tire rotations for you, so when you shop for tires I suggest that you try to focus on retailers that will do free rotations.
And, whichever option you choose, I would suggest delaying the alignment until the front tires have been replaced.
Those rear tires need to be replaced now. It seems you know how to do a web search . Start looking a tire dealer near you for buy 3 tires get one free in your size. Next there are stores that have 6 to 12 months no interest new tire loans. Even if you put them on your credit card the interest will be less than an accident and towing charges.
If you decide to wait then I would put the better tire on the rear of your vehicle at least you won’t crash in a heavy rain storm .
I like the used tire suggestion. Also, the OP seems to be in a hurry to replace the fronts He has a couple 32’s left unless he is driving huge amounts per month.
Is a junk yard a reasonable place to search for a used tire?
Considering your position, I would replace the rears as soon as you can afford to and then save up for the fronts. Be sure to choose a tire that will still be available in 6 months so you can have all 4 matching, not some bargain closeout…
Go to your local Firestone, Discount Tire, Local Tire Shop, etc, and see what 4 of the cheapest tires they have will cost. Not every tire needs to be a top of the line Michelin. There are economical options out there.
There are many used tire places around where I live. Check out one of those places and buy 2 or 4 used tires to get you by for a while.
You may not have a choice in this case. Some AWD systems don’t tolerate mismatched tire circumferences. I don’t know if the Honda AWD system is or isn’t though. If it’s not, then you’ll probably want to get a four tires at the same time. .
I missed that it is AWD. Some, if not most, AWD systems are very sensitive to mismatched tires.
As far as alignment, my opinion not required unless there is abnormal tire wear. I have a 12 year old truck that has been driven on many different surfaces. Last time I got new tires I did get an alignment, no noticeable abnormal wear, alignment revealed no change since it was new.
Joe utuber complained about $324 19” tire with hole in shoulder. That he plugged as temporary measure. I found one on FB for $50 with 10/32 tread. But, that’s too easy.
Last weekend my wife was looking at picture that showed the Country Squire wagon her family had when she was growing up. I remarked that the car should have had a set of whitewall tires. She replied that her dad never bought more than one tire at a time.
It’s very possible that those folks didn’t make an appointment. They will take you at their tire center if you just walk in, but scheduling a rotation (or installation) can really minimize the wait.
Full disclosure: I have my tires rotated at the same time that the vehicle goes in for its 6 month maintenance. With a loaner car, they can take all day if they want.
But, if I was really short of money I might go for a free rotation, even if it tied me up for an hour or so with no loaner car.
When that happens it’s because they accepted too many walk-ins. It’s a problem, and as I stated, I dont use that free service, but if I was really strapped for cash, I might use it.
