Tire dilema what should i do

Face Book Marketplace

I would never trust Marketplace for part of my car that touches the road.

Disclaimer: Nothing personal meant by this

Years ago, it was common to purchase used goods through classified advertising.

Online marketplaces are toilets compare to the old print ad service.

One click and your privacy may blow away like a tin shed in a cyclone.

Did you make an appointment?

I get my tires rotated when I do the oil change. They charge me just 20 bucks extra. Worth it.

You get what you pay for.

I don’t trust facebook. I wouldn’t trust buying tires on their ā€œmarketplaceā€. About as trustworthy as Craigslist if you ask me.

At my previous home I used Costco for tires and the wait time was reasonable, my new shack is too far from Costco but Sams is close. Both offer decent tires at decent prices. Both offer free rotations. Sams requires an appointment, and the wait is also reasonable. I just shop while I wait.

Why do you think print ads (thrifty Nickel, little paper, or local newspaper) are more legitimate ?
I have made purchases from all sources, no problem. Call the owner, set an appointment. Have not yet used FB market place.

Local newspapers, fine.

I sold a set of tires on Monday on FB. I’ve met many nice people thru FB.

An added advantage is that the car is in a tire customer spot close to the store when they’re done.

I just bought an outboard engine off FB Marketplace. I’ve bought a number of things there and I actually prefer it to the older venues. You can see who is selling, how long they have been involved in selling, approximately where they are located etc. I have yet to seek something that was misrepresented by the seller but I am also selective in my inquiries. Pictures posted by the seller tell a big part of the reality of the item’s condition.

And, just in case the car takes longer than I had anticipated, I make sure to bring a book with me.

Tire rotation times are just like any other retail business, it all depends on the employees and if they are short staffed or not, it is easy to take multiple appointments per hour with a proper work schedule, and since most appts are made days/weeks/months out, you work the schedule to staff enough employees based on appts and average walk ins per history for that day of the week, what happens is when employees call out or quit, now you are short staffed, you also count for a % of no shows that are factored in based on prior history for the day/week/month time of year… Now if you have no show(s) AND more customers show up than anticipated, you are screwed, you can also have issues like broken studs etc that can put you behind…

Yeah, I could make a heck of a schedule… lol

Well just the other day a guy was robbed when he went to meet someone for a purchase. How do you know who you are dealing with and if it is a legit transaction. At least with a store front you know it is legit.

Some police departments have established a special parking area for people who are doing these types of transactions. My local PD has two special parking spaces in front of their main entrance, with multiple cameras pointed at those spaces.

That would be nice. My wife won’t let me carry a gun so I just buy from stores.

Location location location, I am never worried if I forget and leave the doors locked on the house, heck I even have left the keys in the ignition over night outside at home, The Vibe rarely gets its doors lock around here, The only reason I lock the truck is cause I think it is neat using the smart key (fob)… Now if any of them goes to Nashville area, then heck yeah I lock my doors… lol… But I am in safe area… And we have a strong showing of law enforcement in my county…
And plus we have 3 alarms that triggers all 3, I call them Brody, Patches and Daisey…
