Timing Belt job Parts on Honda Odyssey (WITHOUT LABOR) is ~ $1,475.45 + tax?

2019 Honda Odyssey

This seems outrages to me, even for Honda parts, and significantly more than what I see posted online for just parts only

I got MSRPs from the Honda Dream Shop. You can maybe forgo the serpentine belt and serpentine belt tensioner, but I would opt in to replace them when you do this job. Not sure how much coolant you would need, so I just assumed 2 gallons

Am I missing something here? Why is it so expensive? Can someone please take a look at the parts list I have gathered up and let me know what I’m doing wrong?

Honda doesn’t make the parts that require replacing. They sell them at higher prices with the Honda name on the box.

You can get a timing kit for your vehicle for much less.

And if you want to replace other components, you can also get them for much less.

Depends on where you buy from.

My Acura dealer did the timing belt and all oem parts for $1500 an$ gave me a new car to drive for the day.

Yup, normal price.

Did you read the part where he says “without labor”, meaning that the cost of nearly $1500 DOES NOT INCLUDE the installation??? I would say that price is utterly insane, meaning one would have to be high as a kite to pay that. The parts alone should cost about $500 with shop markup, and the labor should cost about $1000. So a total “out-the-door” price of about $1500 for a timing belt job would be reasonable.

I really liked using RockAuto, but sadly they no longer sell or ship to my state (Arizona). Unfortunately, the state is attempting to collect sales tax on purchases made BEFORE the Supreme Court ruled that online retailers had to collect each state’s sales tax, based on the absurd legal theory that because RockAuto provided its drop-shippers with RockAuto boxes and refrigerator magnets, therefore the company had a “physical presence” in the state which required collecting sales tax under the old legal precedent.
