There is this “squeeling” sound coming from underneath the hood of the car. I beleive that is coming from the engine. My brother thinks it could be the timing belt.

Perhaps a accessory drive belt but not the timimg belt. I have and idea, how about opening the hood and have a look? I would not of made this suggestion if you had said, “I opened the hood and looked around but still the source of the noise is a mystery”. Family cat perhaps?

And, another name for the accessory belt is a “serpentine belt”. It’s tension is controlled by a “tensioner” and those can become weak with time also, allowing the belt to become loose and even themselves squealing.
