I think this event was featured on Chasing Classic Cars a few years ago.
Yes, it’s taken place every year since 2012… with the exception of one year when it was pre-empted by a hurricane. Here is a bit of history:
The Race of Gentlemen has been featured on many bike and car TV shows, I have seen many builder type shows either building a vehicle or a motorcycle (bike) or both, to race in it…

I stayed in the Crest section with my folks for ten years every August, then many more times later on as an adult.
No place on Earth do so many different types of activity (every type and cost bracket of lodging, the beach, amusement rides, fireworks, bike rentals, boardwalk shops, miniature golf, restaurants, jet skiing, classic car and bike events, fishing charters, sightseeing boat rides, night clubs, on and on) exist within a 5 square mile area. (Sorry, if you want to gamble, there’s a place for that, accessible by car or coach, 25 miles north of the island)
The Wildwoods put even the Kissimmee Disney complex to shame. Every day you spend down the shore can be different from any other, or exactly the same, it’s up to the individual. If one gets bored in the Wildwoods - Crest, Wildwood, West or North Wildwood - they need therapy. ![]()
It looks like a perfect day for such racing.
