… can still be seen in New Carlisle, Indiana… as long as you are in a plane:
Figured that would be overgrown by now. Someone must be maintaining it.
According to the article:
By the start of the new century, the Studebaker sign was looking a little shabby. Invasive plants and storm damage, most notably an ice storm in December 2004, had caused significant wear and tear to the trees. Fortunately, a series of grants were soon awarded for the restoration of the Studebaker sign. Between 2012 and 2015, volunteers helped remove dead and diseased trees and planted 2,000 pine saplings in their place.
that is just cool. My dad has a 55 Studebaker pickup. It’s all kinds of customized, but its what first made me love pickups.
I used to have a neighbor who had a Studebaker Champ pickup of the 1960-64 vintage, with the Lark front clip. He also had a '50-ish bullet-nose Stude Commander.
A few blocks away, there was another collector who had a gorgeous black GT Hawk. They both moved away a few years ago, so there is less eye candy in this area nowadays. I have to settle for a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud that another guy uses as a mostly-static ornament in front of his home. It looks like the Roller is only moved a few times each season.
Interesting post. A little homage to vintage Studebaker, all while converting carbon dioxide to oxygen. What’s not to like
I wonder if somebody is going to claim this is proof for ET’s? … lol …
