Temperature light on dash?

i changed my water pump a couple months ago and ever since then, when i start my car and begin to drive off, the temperature light on my dash comes on and blinks and there is a “beep” in the car when it first comes on. then when im driving down my street, i shut off the engine for 5-10 seconds as i continue to roll and kick start it (manual transmission) and then it goes away. any idea why this happens and how do i get rid of it?

Is the light blue or red? What year is your car?

Sounds like you need to bleed the air out of the cooling system.

?

red blinking light. i have a 2002 VW GTI 1.8T

how do i do that?

anyone? help?

With the engine cold, locate the top radiator hose clamp and loosen the clamp and retighten it.

Take the vehicle for a drive so the coolant is up to operating temperature.

With the engine idling, loosen the top radiator hose clamp and slip a small flat bladed screwdriver between the upper radiator hose and the hose neck on the radiator.

Allow the engine to idle until all the air is purged out of the cooling system and nothing but coolant comes out of the upper radiator hose.

Remove the screwdriver and retighten the hose clamp.
