Tapping sound from left side of car

Hey all,



Lately the car has been making a sound that is coming from the driver’s side.



If you take a penny and gently tap it against the outside of the door, that’s kinda what it sounds like.



It seems to happen randomly when driving “straight and level” and definitely happens when going over bumps in the road.



I can’t really correlate it to turning the car, though.



Any ideas? It’s a 99 with 151,000 miles.

Does it do it after it warms up?  Does it have the fuel filler on the passenger side?

Yes actually I mainly seem to notice it when I’m driving home from work, after being on the interstate for 10 min / 10 miles. And no the fuel filler is on the driver side.
