Ihave a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville. When I go over a bump in the road the whole car sways. I have to hang on to the stearing wheel. It has been doing this for years and has been in two different garages for a total of 3 times and they can’t find out what is causing this. I got new tires, had them balanced twice. I had new brakes put on. They say the shocks and springs are fine. Only one mechanic has felt the sway…one time. I can’t make it do it on command. One trip I make an hour away the road is worn from trucks and it does it many times. Any ideas.

Has your mechanic checked for worn sway bar bushings? Next thing would be a worn idler arm/center link.
