Hi, I’m in the market for a new vehicle and am looking at 2024/2025 compact and mid-sized SUVs. One feature I’d like is enough cargo space to fit two golf bags horizontally without having to put seats down. I obviously will look at them in person too, but if I can eliminate some models that wouldn’t be a match, that will help me prioritize the ones that are. It’s a bit more difficult to find width specs online than I’d have hoped. I’m open to all makes and models as a starting point with research and I have some flexibility financially, though luxury brands will be more of a stretch than I’d probably prefer. If anyone has any recommendations on vehicles or resources that could help, I’d appreciate it. Thank you!
I’d drive by golf courses and see what’s in the parking lot. Stop and chat, people are usually coming and going.
LOL. I have no answers for you. But I did buy a used Saab 9-3 convertible. Not a ton of cargo room!
But oddly, the owner’s manual literally had a section on how to load in two sets of golf clubs. I just thought it was funny. (I don’t have the details - never needed to know).
Anyway, I like @texases ’ suggestion. And it’s probably easier than you think if you can maneuver them into the trunk of a Saab and still put the top down!
I used to have a golf bag with about 20 clubs and wheels. Then got it down to about five. They are different size so measure what you have and take a tape measure with you when looking at cars.
One rental car couldn’t even handle two suitcases in back though without using the back seat. If you join a club though, you can get a locker and leave them there.
Sorry, this is just going to be like Bing said - tape measure time . Since golf bags come all the way from Sunday carry to Tour size monsters. Why the reluctance to putting just one side of the rear seats down?
I had a 2013 RAV4 and it held one bag of clubs on the roof.
I can easily fit 2 sets of clubs and 2 pull/push carts in the back of my Highlander without folding the seats down.
Agreed.
You’re really going to limit your choices if you’re not willing to fold down seats. I’d even go so far as to say you could include cars/sedans in your choices, if you are able to fold down seats. You’d be surprised how much stuff you can fit into a hatchback car, especially with the rear seats folded down.
I put 2 medium size cart bags and 2 push carts in our 2018 Ford Fiesta with the rear seats folded .
