1998 isuzu trooper when hit anything bigger than a pebble, it sounds like metal hitting new shocks was thinking new inner coil springs

Never worked on a trooper but maybe that bearing* at the top of your strut, where it mounts to the shock tower, has worn out so now there’s a lot of metal-to-metal slop there?

*big word because it usually is a simple piece of rubber with a sleeve.

Remco mite have it there… Upper strut mount…BALL JOINT?..Loose brake caliper can all sound like this in a bump… but the most sensitive would BE the strut bearing and or the joint…
