Hello. I’m writing to your site since the phone number didn’t work.

I was driving in rain yesterday, with the car radio on and the wipers on intermittent use. When they were in action, the car radio reacted with static. This has never happened before; I suspect an electrical problem. Please advise. Thank you.

if you cut the wipers off did the static go away?

The problem might be with the antenna ground. The ground occurs where the antenna mast mounts to the body. If there’s a poor ground for the antenna it can cause electrostatic interference on the radio from electric motors such as the wiper motor.

Thanks for responding. Answer to question one: it stopped when the car was moving, started again while idling at a light.
