State Farm just sent me a Rebate Check

This is the first time in many years that State Farm has sent me a Rebate Check; probably 15 to 20-years… A while back I asked why I was no longer receiving rebate checks, “Corporate” sent me a very “nice letter” thanking me for my years as a loyal customer and stated that they were “issuing” those rebates in the form of reduced rates…

I replied that issuing a distinct rebate check provides a far more tangible acknowledgment of the credit, whereas simply reducing a premium bill masks the benefit without clearly recognizing the rate reduction. Especially since I do not recall ever having any year’s premium less than the previous year’s premium…

But you know what they say about looking a gift horse in the mouth… I’ll cash this check and drive merrily on my way…

I also just received a dividend check from them. I was a loyal customer for decades until an unfortunate incident in 2024 where I was a victim of a negligent neighbors fire and I incurred 10k in damages. State Farm paid my claim but did nothing to go after the responsible party.

I now have a fire claim on my record and my rates went up. I have since switched companies to another which is probably no better, but its the principle of the matter.
