Starting Problem Once in a While

I have replaced the battery, the ignition and the starter, yet once in a while the car won’t start when you first try. After a while the car will start. I try moving the shift handle and the key to the various positions before it finally starts but really don’t know if this helps in any way. What could cause this problem, I’m stymied.

There is a neutral safety switch that allows the engine to start in either park or neutral. This could be your problem. Is the engine turning over or is it just nothing.

I agree. If it’s an automatic just shift to neutral and see if it starts. If it does then get the neutral safety switch replaced.

The engine does nothing. However, all the electronics come on and the engine will start all of a sudden as I try the shift and ignition.
