starter clicks wont crank
Remove the battery cables and clean both battery post and cable clamp…A $3 tool makes this chore much easier…Try jump-starting it…Still no luck? Replace the starter…If you CAN jump-start it, have the battery and alternator tested…Most auto-parts stores will do this free…
Even if the battery and battery connections are good, there’s a chance the problem isn’t the starter. It could be the ignition key switch or a safety switch or a starter relay inside the car on the fritz. If you want to be sure, ask your mechanic to measure the voltages at both starter terminals during attempted cranking. If either is below 10 volts, there’s a good chance the problem isn’t the starter, but something else.
