Squeaky front driver's side

i drive a 1999 honda accord, sedan with 174,200 miles on it. recently, the front driver’s side has been squeaking all the time while driving and if parked and i push on the hood, it squeaks then, too. do you know what this might mean, and what i should do about it? is it safe to drive?

thanks.

Is it safe to drive?
Maybe yes, maybe no.

The sound could be from dry bushings, which are merely an annoyance.
The sound could be from a bad ball joint, which is a definite possibility after more than 170k miles.
Because it can result in losing a wheel while driving at high speed, a bad ball joint is a major safety issue.

Take the car to a competent mechanic (NOT Midas, Meineke, Monro, Sears, AAMCO, or any other chain operation) for a front-end inspection. This could save your life if you do have a bad ball joint.

wow…thank so much! i’ll make an appointment with my mechanic right away.
