Sluggish 01 Nissan Pathfinder

When I start up my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with a cold engine (either first thing in the morning or when I leave work), the vehicle starts fine. If I back out of a parking space or garage, it is fine. But sometimes, when I put it in drive and start to move forward, when I hit the accelerator, the car will lose power and almost stall out (actually did stall once). Either that or you’ll hit the gas and nothing happens or you’ll move very slowly…it seems as if there isn’t enough gas getting to the engine or there is some type of air/fuel combination issue. It will do this for about 30 feet and then all of a sudden it just clicks and runs fine after that. Any ideas what this could be? Fuel filter? Pump? Something else?

Also, I have a feeling my transmission is starting to go because if I give the car a lot of gas, the transmission downshifts, the engine revs but the car doesn’t accelerate…there is very little power to the wheels. I’ve noticed this mostly when the transmissions tries to downshift from 3rd to 2nd or from 2nd to 1st.

Could these two issues be related?

Thanks!

Could be related.
Start by getting the trans fluid inspected.
Change, don’t flush if discolored or over 30K miles. Change filter too.
