I store my brother in law’s 02 Dodge Caravan. I went to move it, the engine starts but the shift lever will not move. Any suggestions?
Are you parked on a steep hill?
Are you holding the brake pedal down while you try to shift?
If the first is “no” and the second is “yes” there is normally a switch on the brake pedal that locks up the gear shifter unless the brake is depressed. Take a look down there to see if the switch is engaging (actually if the brake lights come on then the switch is probably fine, but you might mess with it anyway). If the switch seems ok pull the manual and see if there is a fuse for something like a shift lock and check it.
