Shaking front end

We have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee (w/ high miles, 180,000) and recently the front end has started shaking when I hit bumps while driving on the freeway (causes the steering wheel to shake as well). The shaking stops when I slow down. I’m bringing the vehicle in today to have the brakes looked at (another issue altogether, I think) and I’m wondering what I should say to the mechanic and how much I should expect to pay. Any help is appreciated! Thx.

A worn steering damper will cause this.

Yup.
As will worn tie rod ends, worn ball joints, and worn shocks.

Personally I think it’s time to get it up on the lift for a look-see.

The price will be determined by what’s wrong.
