I’m on the hunt for a classic car to restore in the Los Angeles area. Previously, I was focused on old BMWs, but now I’m open to something different and unique for the LA scene.
Cars like the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet 1984 or the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.3-16V 1985 really catch my eye, I will add the links below so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about. I’m looking for something in a similar style, something classic, but with character, and a great restoration project.
If you have or know of anything interesting that fits the bill, feel free to reach out. I’m eager to find my next project and give a classic car a second life.
What is your budget for this project??
If not high 5 digits to 6 digits, then a Euro is probably not for you…
And if you are doing a check book car (paying someone for everything) then you will have to find a specialty shop for Euro’s, the average mechanic, in my part of the world anyway, hate to work on Euros… You either want to work on nothing but Euros, or not at all for the most part… YES their are exceptions to every rule…
And yeah, you might want to start posting pictures and not the same business link every time… lol
Go to a large website specializing in classic cars, like Hemmings. They have classics FSBO, dealers, and auctions. Here’s an example of a 1958 220S. The asking price is $3250. It needs brakes and paint at least.
For comparison, there is one in good condition for sale at a classic car dealer for $19,000. If you use a big website like Hemmings you get to see a huge number of options. The website you linked to might use Hemmings as a virtual showroom. If they don’t, they should.
How about an early 1990’s Toyota Celica or Honda Prelude? Or a Ford Probe or Chevrolet Beretta? Maybe a classic Dodge Shadow??? Can’t go wrong with any of those!
