As you all know, I love my tC. However, just this week a hatch support strut blew. Since no artefmarket sources listed a replacement strut and I wanted to be sure I had the right part, I ordered from the dealer ($132; yikes!).
While I was at the dealer to pick up the part, I got to talking with a tech there. Apparently, struts have started blowing especially on those cars with rear spoilers. There is a heavy duty support strut that is recommended for those cars, but nobody is putting them on because of the added cost.
I’m just going to replace the one for now, since the other is still pretty new, but if it blows again I’m replacing both with the heavy duty.
