Rust on Engine Block

Hello,

I purchased a new 2010 Chevy Silverado about 3 weeks ago. I popped the hood this weekend, and noticed a few rust colored spots on the engine block. I’ve never noticed this on other new vehicles I’ve owned. Normal oxidation or a cause for concern? Thanks!

What part of the block is visible under the hood?

Cast iron engine blocks will rust. The only time they don’t rust is if there’s an oil leak somewhere on the engine preventing the block from rusting. Not a concern.
