I have a 91 Geo Metro Convertible that needs a new engine (with AT). Can a 96 Geo Metro engine be used as a replacement?
The 91 vehicle has the OBDI engine management system. The 96 vehicle has the OBDII engine management system. So it won’t work unless you’re willing swap a lot of parts from one engine to the other in order for the 96 engine to work in the 91 vehicle.

About the only part you could use of the 1996 engine is the engine block (and the accessories, of course).
