2006 Town and Country was hit in a collision from another driver running a red light. Other driver admits running the red light and State farm is paying to have Chrysler dealer repair it. No injuries but there is $5000.00 Damage. Any personal advice or related experience before I pick up the car?
Sorry about your accident. I recently had the same thing, not as bad.
Also, I used to manage a collision shop.
$5000 damage isn’t as much damage as it used to be with higher parts and labor today.
In order to help, maybe you could give some details.
What area of your vehicle was damaged? Was it in the front, side sliding door, door, rear quarter panel or a combination of these? More importantly, what did they replace, straighten, bump out, repair, or what details can you explain?
Do you know if the repairs require using any frame straightening or unibody alignment equipment?
Were any vehicle “mechanicals” involved? Was it drivable, towed, steaming, smoking, tire(s) flattened, wheel rims hit or damaged, airbag(s) deployed, interior damage, etc?
Were there any “opens” (items that couldn’t be estimated because damage or extent of damage could not be determined until repair begins)?
Are they using any used or “aftermarket” (parts from a supplier other than Chrysler) parts?
How many days did they think it would take to fix?
The shop/State Farm warrants the work. Do you know for how long? I’m pretty sure State Farm insists that you are totally satisfied with the repair.
Any more details would help us help you. Thanks.
YES!!! I had a very bad experience with “The other guy’s” State farm Insurance. Even after the kid rear ended me and gave me false information, and the Police the right information after being caught in a lie…after the kids parents called me and asked me to settle without involving insurance companies, the State farm agent still had the nerve to demand that I take my Ford to a Chevy dealer for repairs. If I had opted for Ford I would have had to pay what the Agent refused to pay. Deep Chevy Blue doesn’t look real good on Ford metalic blue. At least make sure that the new paint matches the original paint and that the mechanics didn’t do something like leave a battery cable loose because they were too retarded to turn the alarm off.
Moral of the story is that State Farm schemes and will do as little as possible to restore the damage caused by the other guy, regardless of how much equity the policy holder has in the coverage. And, they use litigation as leverage.
State Farm
I have State farm insurance and have had for decades and have had several accident claims (none were our fault). I have always come out well and have been satisfied. One’s agent can be an important resource for help as they want to keep customers.
We have “no fault” insurance in our state, so each of my claims was settled by my own State Farm agency.

Is this your insurance or the other driver’s?
Whatever the case, your agent can possibly give advice.
If you are involved in an accident that is the other driver’s fault, not yours, and his insurance company is uncooperative, file a claim on your own collision insurance and let the two insurance companies fight it out. You have no obligation to accept shoddy repairs to save the other guy’s insurance company money. If they threaten to use litigation to make it expensive to stand up for your rights, report them to the state insurance regulators.
If I had opted for Ford I would have had to pay what the Agent refused to pay.
That does not any sense.

Shop’s don’t buy quarts of Chevy Blue, etc. etc. It’s all computer matched via a paint code AND a good tint by a great painter.
There is probably a loss in value to your car as a result of the accident. Contact your insurer (not the other guy’s insurer) and ask them about it. You may be able to collect additional money to make up the difference.
It is called “diminished value”
Check to see if the body gaps are consistant, not perfect though, they will not be.
check for buffing compund/ white powder that did not get cleaned off
check for paint match at various angles from panel to panel. they cannot control the flop, different hues on the same patch.
check the opening and closing of doors/hood/gates.
check for overspray. run the palm of the hand over the body and check for a rough feeling area. it can be buffed off. at various angles it can be seen.
check for overspray on the glass.
check the body panels for good alignment.
if there is an issue, address the manager in a nice manner/ you can catch more flies with honey etc. etc.
if he says thats the way it fits it might true. find an 06 on the lot and compare.
fi a rim/tire was contacted make sure it had an alignment. it they were not contacted, no alignment should be performed.
State Farm is a fair comp. to deal withj
hope it all works out
sorry about your car,at least your not in ky.they have no fault law ,so if your in a wreck the other persons never admits. the light doesnt matter your insurance pays.so when in ky watch the intersections.
