I have no words. Fords say you are fine if you don’t charge it. We always charge it. Can’t stop charging until the end of the year so we’ll sell it back. You buy new technology rushed to market, have a problem, and just can’t deal with putting gas in it like we’ve done for years.
Personally I wouildn’t purchase that car myself, too many electronic gadgets. But Ford says the car is perfectly safe, as long as the owner lets it charge itself using its gasoline motor; later this year they’ll have a fix which will allow the couple to return to using it as a plug-in hybrid. While admittedly an imperfect solution, perfection is too expensive, and what Ford proposes seems a reasonable compromise… Ford might want to consider to throw in a few free routine service appointments to sweeten the pot.
As a Registered Tree-hugger and Greenie, I would wanto charge it from our power company’s efficiently-produced electricity.
Such is why I would buy the car.
