Rear seat cushion retaining clip

Hello,

While accessing the fuel tank (under the rear seat) of a 2010 Ford Fusion, the plastic clips holding the seat down were broken. These clips are sold here
https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/hardware-and-fasteners-71564-2/bezel-retainer-seat-cushion-pad-clip-p-xw4z54624a14ba

It says that this clip is not compatible with a 2010 Fusion, but it is compatible with many other Fusion years and looks exactly the same as the clips in my 2010. Should I take a chance, buy them and see if they work? Any thoughts?

Thanks a lot

It’s $8. You may be able to find them on Amazon or eBay for less. But either way…yeah, give it a try. Don’t overthink this.

Yeah gee if you can afford to loose $8. Cost me $20 for a couple plastic clip# for my water softener if I recall.

Try this part number, common seat cushion retainer/latch. Fits 2006-2012 Fusion.

Take your old clip to the dealer parts counter with your VIN and the 2 parts numbers in this tread and see if one looks the same and or what the parts guy shows it being…

Or start ordering parts off line and hope you find the correct one… simple choice…

But if I was a betting man, I would bet on Nevada giving you the correct part number in the post above…

Yes usually nevada has the correct information.

Thanks, Nevada. I bought that part. The real trick seems to be getting the broken clips out. They don’t come out by hand. Might need a hammer and chisel.

Look at the pic below. The tabs on either side need to be compressed to push the retainer out.

I’ve had connectors that were still very difficult to remove even after pressing the tabs in.

Are those tabs not on the other side of the sheet metal (on the blind side), meaning all the OP needs to do now is drop the gas tank in order to have access to the tabs so he can compress them??

There might be room to get to them from underneath just in front of the tank, but not sure…

Made no mention of how easy/accessible they are, just figuring OP may not realize they exist when the resort option is hammer and chisel…

The rear seat cushion retainers usually don’t go through the floor to the exterior; there should be a double panel or bracket.

Since I usually have new retainers, I break the old ones, they are hard plastic and will crack or split. Also, the perimeter can be cut into sections with a diagonal-cutter, remove the retainers in pieces.
