Rack and pinion seals

my new rack and pinion gear came with a large assortment of o rings. none seem to fit the two threaded holes where the fluid lines connect. the fluid lines have a flange at the ends and rack has a “cone shape” to match.(similar to how a brake line looks) does it need o rings there?

Not always. It a system that’s normally under some pressure, so it should have the same style of connections as your braking system, although with larger piping. Connect it, fire it up, and see if it leaks. If it doesn’t, then you’ve done it correctly.

The O-rings are most likely provided as a generic toss in bag of parts, and they’ll toss that same package into every rack they sell.

Thanks for your help. That is the answer I wanted to hear. I’ll try it first thing in the morning.
