Proper Fluids for a 1988 Olds 98 Regency Brougham

Double checking before I make service appointment for my “new-to-me” Olds 98:

What transmission fluid do I need?

What power steering and brake fluid?

What coolant do I need?

What oil do you recommend?

Wait for the service manual. It has all your answers. Just off the top of my head, I believe the trans fluid is Dextron-III or better, power steering is general power steering fluid, brake fluid is DOT-3, coolant is standard ethylene glycol, and you should be using 10W-40 of a good quality oil.

With the age of this car, I worry about the condition of hoses, seals, and belts. They do go bad over time. The one’s on the engine are obvious. Others worry me, like the rubber hoses on the gas tank. The wheel bearings are sealed bearing packs, but the brake surfaces can be badly rusted and pitted if this car was parked outside for any of this time.

Thanks for your help and advice!
