My 2001 Corolla driver’s side power window sometimes slows down and then stops dead. When this happens, sometimes it will start working again if I turn off the car and turn it back on again, but lately that hasn’t been working, and it will only start working again if I leave it off for hours. The other windows work fine and never exhibit any problems.
Since about the only time I ever use the driver’s side window is to swipe my pass to get into the parking lot at work, this means that I often end up leaving my window partly down while I’m at work all day.
When I first saw this, it was only happening once every few weeks. During the annual state inspection, I mentioned it to the mechanic, and he said it was the switch, but it wasn’t actually happening at the time, and I don’t think the slowing down to a stop is symptomatic of a switch problem - if it were a switch problem, wouldn’t it just not work?
