2014 ford fiesta. Power steering assist warning came on. No power steering.
Any thoughts?
Your vehicle utilizes electronic steering assist instead of hydraulic steering assists.
This means instead of having a power steering pump your vehicle has an electric motor mounted on the steering rack that provides steering assist.
There’s a problem in this system.

In a 5 year old car I would have the battery checked first! An old, tired battery will cause the electric power steering to act wonky. The steering draws a LOT of power - more than just the alternator alone can provide. The rest comes from the battery for short steering events.
It may be all you need to fix this.
