Porshe for Cheap!

Recent news reports in SF Bay area, it appears Mr. Pelosi’s wrecked Porsche has been declared totaled by the insurance company, but can still be purchased at auction.

Pelosi’s blood alcohol content seems to have barely been over the legal limit, 0.82 vs 0.80.

Perhaps you could buy it for $75,000, how much are you willing to spend?

well, they took his blood alcohol level over 2hrs after they got to the precinct.
If it was me, they would have done it at the scene. but I do not really drink anymore.

I think that’s the advice you’d get from a personal lawyer, in DUI situations for the client to try to delay the test for as long as possible.

hmmm … $7500?

0.08 is the normal legal driving limit for blood alcohol content. I don’t know what happens to a person at 0.82, as the news reports. That’s something like 200 ounces of wine. 0.082 would hardly qualify as a DUI.

0.8% = dead

And for guys like me and @eddo that have a CDL, the legal limit to drive is 0.04 . . . at ANY time, whether we’re “on duty” or not

To clarify . . . if my girlfriend and I were to go out this weekend and I have enough drinks to blow 0.04 at a random sobriety checkpoint, I would legally be DUI

I disagree

0.082 meets the legal definition of DUI

Same in OK with a CDL; it’s .04 and .08 for DUI. Of course there are exceptions for the state insurance commissioner, the city manager, and a U.S. District Attorney who sent a guy I know to the hospital after almost killing him. Friend was on a motorcycle and got thrown a 100 and something feet…

The attorney claimed “Diplomatic Immunity” and refused to submit to any testing or surrender his drivers license while claiming city/state laws do not apply. Late night, falling down drunk, driving east in the west bound lanes of a divided highway in a black Lincoln with no lights on. He was never charged or punished in any way. Friend got a settlement but it did not come from the attorney.

In Colorado as I recall the limit was 0.15 in 1960’s, early 70’s. But later lowered to 0.08. Doesn’t take more than a drink or two for .08. Me, I’m a light-weight drinker, feel dizzy event just after a couple of beers. Before Covid a 12-pack of beer would last me 3 months. Now, about 2 weeks, more stay-at-home time. Some years ago I had a gf with alcoholic tendencies who could drink an entire 6 pack over the course of an hour and not show any obvious effects.

Car doesn’t look to badly damaged.

In VA it was 0.1 until the mid-80’s IIRC.
