I have a 63 Chevy impala and am having parking brake problems. If i put the car in drive, the parking brake holds. If i put it in reverse, it will not hold at all. The car rolls backwards. Please help. I am trying to ship the car as i am military, but the parking brake needs to work. Thank you
You need to pull off the rear brake drums and inspect. Make sure the brake shoes have enough lining. Then see if you can adjust the brakes. I don’t know if yours are self-adjusting. There is a special tool, very simple, to adjust the brakes. Or you can use a screwdriver. This link may help you:
