When I put my car in park, it feels like it goes into park but the dash light doesn’t come on. I can’t take my key out until the light comes on. When the car is first driven it can take one to two minutes for light to come on. As I drive throughout the day it speeds up, taking maybe 5 seconds when the car is very warm. My mechanic replaced my ignition switch yesterday. He said it was fixed. It’s not. the car was probably warm by the time they had the new switch in so the light came on. Drove to the P&R this morning, had to wait about 90 seconds. Any suggestions?
It would help to know the make, model, and year of the car that you have. Believe it or not, not all cars work the same way.
oops, sorry. First time posting. 1992 Acura Integra.
Sorry, I don’t know about Honda/Acura.
I would guess that it is either the linkage that needs to be adjusted, or a bad transmission range selector switch (or whatever Honda calls it). I think that you need to find a better mechanic if he thought the ignition switch would be related to this problem.
