My daughter has 2007 Jeep wrangler. When pumping gas it doesnt stop the nozzle soon enough and the gas overflows. She took it to the dealer 2 times and they told her there was nothing wrong with it but if it does it again to bring it back. Does anyone know what she can tell the dealer next time?
Thanks
You can tell them at how many different pumps this happens?
you would think the topic of fueling would be a simple, easy thing right?
since the problem is recurring, lets start at the bottom of the problem.
when fueling the jeep, the fuel nozzle must be fully inserted into the fuel tank fill.
the nozzle must be firmly (but gently) pressed down.
the nozzle should be verticle. that is to say not at an angle, or cockeyed.
i am not saying anything derogatory about the fueling methods, or habits being done, but if these basic habits are followed and there are still problems, then the problem lies with the fuel fill. but in all honesty, i am almost certain this is ‘operator error’ on the nozzle use, attitude and placement while filling.
some vehicles have fuel fills that require holding the nozzle at certain angles so they will not shut off early. i dont recall many that overfill and splurt fuel out the fill. this leads me to the observation that this is operator error.
Why don’t you have someone at the dealership pump the gas? You can see if it’s a human error or not.
Don’t pump the fuel in so fast…Try a different gas station with better nozzles…
It sounds like she places the fuel nozzle in the filler neck, squeezes the handle to the max-flow position, and leaves. Is this her method? If it is, she should set the self-setting lever at a lower level, or (gasp!) hold the fuel nozzle as the tank fills.
thanks for everyone’s reply I will tell my daughter what you said.
