I lived in Milwaukee in the early 1970s. In those days, batteries were easily stolen. Remember, hood release lever at the top of the grille?
It happened to me. I figured, there is one missing battery in all of Milwaukee, and today it is in my car.

Lived in Duluth in the 60ās, thieves stole the battery out of the car, so my dad stopped backing into the garage and they stole the snow tires off the rear! Guess that was before locking garage doors.
Well, I live in Duluth now! Small world.
Yeah I know Duluth.
I was a little concerned when our Sheriff decided to retire. In an article on hand gun permits, the new Sheriff was quoted as saying āthe only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gunā. Not very imaginative but heāll do fine.
Iāll probably be dead by the time I get the gun lock off and load it!
Not to get way off and get flagged again but WCCO, the local CBS did an incognito interview with a gang member concerning the new glock devices called a switch. For $100-200 on the internet, it plugs in to the back of the slide and turns it into full automatic instead of semi. The gang member said yeah if they see a target in a crowd, they will just spray the crowd with 30-100 rounds in a few seconds. The police demonstrated how it is very difficult to control where the rounds go especially for a novice gang member, so lots of innocents will be hit. Worried about this summer they are. And they are illegal to own-10 years. The guns are mostly stolen too.
We were at 2811 east superior, you anywhere close?
I had an office up there a couple blocks west about 15 years ago. Donāt remember the street. The kid rented an old lumber barronās house not too far from there when he was in school. Iām a couple hundred miles away and havenāt been up there for some years now. Weād hit the casino down town or Black Bear on over-nights and lose my lunch money. Tight they are. The kid talked about all the street people living in the sewers in the Winter. I think they were actually the corridors for the central heat system like St. Paul. Stays warm. Test your brakes often.
ANY car can be used for a joyride. Back in the 80ās VW Bugs were common theft vehicles because how easy it was.
One block east and two blocks up the hill.
@shanonia That is a heck of a hill! Remember as a kid cars going up or down had the right of way, do they still do that? Used to go sledding down the boardwalk and steps to Holy Rosary? school. Is the wooden walk still there? I was probably second grade, got lost by up where you live, a garbage man saw me crying on a street corner, took me in and said I was on his route, so after a bit of a tour dropped me off at my house.
