I have a 99 Hyundai Elantra Sedan, Automatic Transmission with about 80,000 miles on it. For the past month I have noticed a high pitched noise coming from the left front side of my car any time I turn the wheel to the left. It only occurs while the car is moving. It can occur with even a slight turn to the left and does get a little louder with a harder turn to the left. It goes completely away when driving straight and never occurs when turning to the right. Just some hx - I had 4 new tires placed on the care about 6 months ago and the brakes were replaced about 3 years ago. Any ideas?
Thanks
My prime suspect would be a bad CV joint.
It might be a brake pad wear indicator just starting to kiss the brake rotor (disc brakes).
A wheel bearing would be a lower frequency noise, more a rumble than a squeal. 80K is a little early for one of these to go, but they can and will become noisy one side at a time.
