06 jeep liberty that will sometimes start without starter fluid when its has sat for a few hrs but if I have drove it for a little while and turn it off and start ot again it doesn’t start without starter fluid.
Fuel anti drainback valve my first guess. Leave the ignition switch on 15 seconds to let the fuel pump pressurize the system before trying to start the car and see if that works.

It might take more than one On-wait a couple seconds-Off of the key to bring up pressure before turning the key to Start if the anti-drainback valve is bad.
You may be able to hear the fuel pump run with the key at On, but it will probably turn off within a few seconds. Another Off-On with the key activates the pump again, briefly.
