Nissan Power Drivers Seat

I own a 2002 Nissan Maxima, and the motor that moves the driver’s seat front and back has stopped working. Nissan only sells an entire seat as a replacement (almost $1200). I was wondering if there is a way to just replace the defective motor.

You can’t buy a new motor from Nissan?

If that’s the case I’d start calling junk yards.

You have checked the fuse, haven’t you?

Try a Nissan board. Someone may well know of a fix for this.

Usually it is not worthwhile to rebuild small electric motors, but this might be the exception to the rule. There motor shops that rebuild electric motors or they may be able to match something up to what you have.

I’m not sure what you mean by a “Nissan board”. Will you please explain that term to me.
Thank you.

Nissan only sells the entire seat.

I’ve tried local junk yards and even on-line junk yard distributions, but no luck.

I know it’s not the fuse, because the other motor functions on the seat still work. That’s why I was wondering if it’s possible to just replace the motor, or whether you have to destroy the seat to get to it.

Means Nissan specific forums. Just google Nissan or Maxima forums and you will find many. There more people have dealt with similar problems, hopefully.
