New brake pads. does everything look ok?

i looked and noted the pads are new. rotor is also new. however i also note it seems the pad has space in middle that doesnt make full contact. i already test drove it on freeway and everything seems fine othewise. does everything look ok?

Many brake pads have chamfers on them to prevent brake noise.

I’ve never seen brake pads shaped like that, but maybe that’s just the way they make them these days for your car, maybe to minimize braking noise. The photos seems to show only the leading edge isn’t making full contact in the middle, cause by the pad’s unique shape. Do you think the entire pad isn’t making contact there? Is there a ridge on the outer rim of the disc? Did you measure the disc’s thickness?

Everything looks great in the 2nd picture :+1:

They’ve been making them that way for DECADES

This post will probably also be flagged and deleted, just like all the others

Greased the caliper pins with caliper grease? Cleaned oil off rotors with brake clean? Seated the new pads per testers method or other instructions? Just asking for a friend but you surely noticed the camfer on the new pads before installing.

The thickness is 25 mm, these rotors are 40% thicker than the rotors on your Corolla. The rotors on your Corolla are disposable.

Tell your friend that the customer doesn’t get to see the new parts before the work is performed.

My guess, this thread is an extension of prior thead. Causing some confusion.

I agree SOME of us are most definitely confused

Huh you getting flagged too? Sheesh.

My posts are getting flagged and deleted on a near daily basis

And here I thought I was the king flag collector.

Sorry Bing , but I may get as many as you or even more.

While I don’t really care I do see some posts that don’t get Flagged but If I had made them they would have been Flagged.

I agree…
And here is a pic of your brake pads new, left are the inboards and the rights are the outboards, in the picture…

As far as post number 3, just ignore it, Tester explained it perfectly in the picture of post number 2…
Tester, db4690, Nevada and myself are ALL pros with years and years experience, we have probably done more brake jobs each in less then one week then George a DIY with very little experience, except for a 50yo truck and a 30yo Corolla, has done in his lifetime…
No disrespect, just facts…

Yes we all (speaking out of turn for everyone else) are very happy to have expert opinions on the subjects here. Rarely can any of the rest of us with 60 years or mor DIY experience, contribute anything relative except spelling and grammer, but it’s fun anyway. Praise allah.

Still it would be fun to see who is flagging who or whom. Onward to high finance and whether to lease or buy maybe we can shed some dim light on the subject.

My point was about the brakes looking correct and not about the process doing them, that was beat to death in other threads, and for the OP to ignore a post that will/can only confuse the OP, as 4 pros including one before his post explaining why the OP’s pads were designed like that… The OP clearly stated the pads and rotor are new, the picture shows new rotors, but George in his normal fashion of NOT reading or understanding the post he is replying to, is asking the OP (that had also said he paid someone else to do the brakes), if he measured the new rotors and if they had a lip on them… George is clearly out touch with what is being said… Nothing to do with any other advise or comment from any other pro mechanic or DIYer… It was just another post bomb aiming for top poster that could easily confuse an already paranoid/confused OP…
Nothing more nothing less…

Are you sure the poster’s above are all pro’s? Do you think only pro’s should be allowed to post here?

I am NOT playing into your games George, STOP taking things out of context…

And if you are calling out @Tester, @Nevada_545, @db4690 and myself as NOT being Pros, well that is on you… But I will tell you that I would trust them a 1000 times before I trusted your answers on anything vehicle related, as far as me, I don’t give a rats a$$ what you think of me!!! Good day sir…

And here is one of YOUR answers right back at you, If YOU don’t like what I say, IGNORE ME and move on, nobody said you have to read my post, block me I don’t care…
